“A writer is a world trapped in a person”
Because I’m sitting here in Thailand trying to figure out how to write what I need to write…but the words aren’t coming.
Because this quote showed up on my Facebook newsfeed just as the vulnerability of my writing uncertainties kicked in.
Because this is one of the truest statements I have ever read.
It is a great statement. Good luck with your writer’s block

Thanks Lisa. I’ve been so overstimulated with being in a new place and meeting so many people and being UNBELIEVABLY busy with my TESOL course, that I’ve had very little inspiration to write lately. It’ a shame, but hopefully that will change when I move off to my placement town in a matter of days.

Don’t be so hard on yourself Brittany. Write when the time is right. Now is the time to get acclimated. I am so proud of you for this GIANT step you’ve taken

Amen to that. Yes, best of luck. Do something totally different and fun for a little while.

I think the words you were looking for actually came out brilliantly ! I can witness the emotion you are feeling right now and that’s exactly what makes a writer, a writer!

DANG, Britta. I feel you here. This quote hits me right in the core–I’ve been relearning my identity as a writer lately, and Hugo expresses it perfectly. But, then again, Hugo expresses everything perfectly. 🙂 Keep exploring and adventuring! I find that words are like fruit–they bud, bloom, and grow within us (a process that takes time) and when the right time comes, they all burst out.

Ah, I completely agree with you, Amelia. There’s always a right time for letting the words out and when it comes, it’s beautiful…but until that time, it can definitely be frustrating and draining.

This struck a chord with me. I haven’t been able to keep up with anyone’s blog! And I’ve missed some great posts from you. Uuuugh! College! I don’t know how you managed to post weekly despite everything you had going on. I hope Thailand is treating you well! I promise I’ll catch up with your blog soon! I’ll find out what’s really been going on with you. 😛 I hope I didn’t sound too stalker-ish. Oh, well, stalking can be one of the highest forms of flattery. Haha.

I’ve been TERRIBLE at keeping up with other people’s blogs lately. My TESOL training course and forging new friendships in Thailand have definitely been a priority lately. I always found blogging to be an exceptionally fantastic way to procrastinate during college…though perhaps you’re more studious than I was…and in that case, props to you. 🙂
I post weekly because writing is how I destress and I can’t survive without blogging. Seriously. I’d be an emotional basket case if I wasn’t blogging regularly, even in Thailand (I also scheduled all my Hump Day Haikus ahead for the month of October, which has certainly helped).
Not stalkerish at all! It’s an honor to hear that you want to catch up with my blog. Really. I take that has a good thing. Hope all is well with you! Now that I think about it, it HAS been a while since we’ve chatted. 🙂

How was your TESOL training? Today is your first day of teaching, right? You’ll be an excellent teacher.

TESOL was good, but long. So thankful to have gotten to know so many people in my course. I have connections throughout Thailand now, which is amazing. I’m actually not done with my course yet. I graduate on Thursday and move to my town over the weekend. I don’t start teaching until November 2.
