Quotes + Challenge = I’m Sold

A few days ago, I was nominated for the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Challenge by My Overflowing Thoughts. Now, I haven’t been accepting any nominations of late (life is already so busy, there’s so many other things I’d rather take the time to blog about, so many of the nominations are repeats as it is, etc.). That said, this one got me just because I LOVE QUOTES SO MUCH. Oh man, a really good quote makes me weak in the knees, near tears, gives my heart a little throb. I just couldn’t pass it up.

The rules are simple–post a quote a day for three days and nominate three people each day. I am choosing not to pass on nominations, though anyone who would like to participate is more than welcome to. Instead, I’m going to give a short description of why I chose each quote beneath the posted quote.

Of course, the moment I was nominated for this, I couldn’t think of any quotes, though there are many I love…so I resorted to the Pinterest account I never log on to anymore, where I headed straight for the board I made during my sophomore year of college that is devoted entirely to inspirational quotes and sayings.

On that note, apparently I have seventy-eight Pinterest followers these days…who knew!

Anywho, without further ado, I give you day one:

To Love Oneself Is The Beginning Of A Lifelong Romance
Source

I am a firm believer that you cannot truly love others until you learn to love yourself. Putting your own well being first should never be perceived as selfish. Self-care is one of the best things you can do for yourself–and that starts with loving yourself for who you are. Plus, I’m a bit of a romantic myself–and a life-long romance doesn’t sound half bad.

Oscar Wilde is one of my favorite historical figures and The Picture of Dorian Gray–one of his most well-known literary works–is one of the most intriguing books I’ve ever read. One can only wonder the type of life he could have lived had he been born a a century or so after he was, in a society more tolerant of homosexuality.

    1. Oh, thanks, Lisa! I was worried the narrative would be a bit hard to follow, so I’m glad it wasn’t and that you enjoyed it! Oscar Wilde was such a cool dude. I’d love to sit down and have a chat with him.
