A few weeks ago, Meghan, from Jump Rope, nominated me for my first Libester Award ever.
The Liebster Award might be my favorite award of them all. I’m actually excited to receive this award because I can’t wait to pass it on to a few really deserving newer blogs. See, the Liebster Award is meant to be awarded to blogs with less than 200 followers. It is supposed to honor and encourage newer bloggers who might not have as much visibility in the blogosphere yet. I actually just reached the 200 mark like, three days ago…something like that. Clearly it wasn’t the most important thing on my radar that day (okay, but seriously, thank you to all of my followers. It’s still quite meaningful to know a good handful of people actually think I have interesting things to say). I was nominated for this when I was still under the 200 mark and have been intending to accept it for a while…this post has been in my drafts folder for ages, in fact, and I thought I should get around to finishing it one of these days. So, today’s the day.
(For the record, I know that many bloggers with over 200 followers have accepted The Liebster Award before…that said, I personally really like the idea of encouraging new bloggers specifically, and since that’s what this award is all about, this is the only time I will be accepting it)
First of all. Thank you Meghan, for nominating me. It’s an honor and a pleasure to accept this award. The Liebster Award was the first blogging award I was made aware of back when I was new to the blogosphere and I am more than happy to accept it and pass it on.
Here are the rules:
(Spoiler alert–I have never closely followed the rules of these awards)
Lucky for me, Meghan only gave me four questions to answer (thank you, dear god, thank you Meghan for saving me some time…these award posts can take ages for me to complete, especially since I have a tendency to write so much).
Here are her questions and my answers:
1. What are you most thankful for in your daily life?
My health. Mental and physical. At this time last year, I was in a really bad spot mentally and I’m so proud of myself for overcoming that to become a better and stronger individual. There is never a day that goes by when I’m not thankful for my health.
2. What song makes you want to get up and dance like no one’s watching?
Haha, there are so many. But right now I’m feeling The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough by Cyndi Lauper. I’m a sucker for 80’s music and The Goonies is one of my favorite movies.
3. Do you have a favorite non-alcoholic beverage? Why?
When I initially answered this question a few weeks ago (this has been in my draft folder, remember), I said coffee. While I do love coffee and am quite thankful for it on those days when I don’t get enough sleep with this college life style of mine, I’m going to change my answer and say water. Why? Because I drink it all the time. Water is so good for you. Anyone who spends any amount of time with me knows that I always have my water bottle with me. It’s pretty much the only beverage I drink…besides coffee of course, and occasionally tea, and occasionally alcohol of various sorts. THANK YOU WATER FOR MAKING ME FEEL HYDRATED AND REFRESHED! Also, I don’t have to worry about feeling anxious when I drink water. As much as I adore coffee, too much of it can send me over the edge when it comes to anxiety…there’s a very fine line between just enough coffee and too much for me. So, water wins this one (you still have a special place in my heart, coffee!).
4. What gets your creative blogging juices flowing? Why?
My desire to understand myself and the world around me better. It’s really as easy as that.
11 Random Facts
Okay, I’m totally going to cop-out on this. My last awards post drained me of random facts. Please consult with that post if you really want to know random facts about me. Thinking up random facts is actually way easier said than done and I’m just not feeling up to it right now. #sorrynotsorry
I have three. Three blogs that I believe are really deserving.
Pondering Poet Pilot — The Pondering Poet Pilot provides lovely, entertaining, and thought-provoking poetry. I stumbled across this blog a few weeks ago and pretty quickly figured out that I had found a gem. I encourage any fans of poetry to check it out! When I was first nominated for the Liebster Award a few weeks back, I knew I had to nominate this one.
College with Ashley –Ashley is a few years younger than me…she is a first year college student, whereas I’m a senior. Ashley writes with an honesty and strength that I wish I would have had in my first year of college. She is so very passionate about her goals and her optimism is refreshing. I’ve enjoyed keeping up with her journey as a blogger the last few months and am excited to see where she goes next!
AlrightMaddie — Maddie’s blog is really, really new…like a week or so old. Usually I would be hesitant to nominate such a new blog, just because I believe it’s hard to get a sense of a blog until it’s more fleshed out with a decent amount of posts. I initially checked out Maddie’s blog after she had followed me first; even though she only had two posts up at the time, I fell in love with her writing style and the overall feeling of the blog. I immediately knew I had to nominate this blog for the Liebster Award…it just felt right.
To my nominees: I completely understand if you choose not to accept. There are so many mixed feelings about awards in the blogosphere–the debate between awards are a great way to support fellow bloggers and awards are just chain mail and therefore a waste of time. Clearly, since I am accepting this award and passing it on, I have chosen to take the more optimistic route. While I do find it more meaningful to be recognized simply because someone likes my blog and my writing, I do generally see awards as positive.
As you can see above in the rules, if choose to accept, you’re supposed to answer some questions from me. 11 to be exact. But, like Meghan before me, I’m only going to ask you a few questions. Four is a good number. So, here you go:
1) What’s one place that you’ve never been to before that you’d love to travel to at some point in your life?
2) Are you a morning person or a night person?
3) What’s your favorite book?
4) What’s one thing that brings you joy?
If you’re feeling up to it, I’d love if you could explain why you chose your answers a little bit!
Well, it appears I’ve reached the end of my acceptance of the Libester Award. Thanks again, Meghan, for the nomination!
