Welcome to the second edition of Life’s Little Victories as Told Through Pictures!
Today I woke up feeling border-line depressed. This was surprising for me, since I haven’t felt anything close to depression since last spring when I experienced my absolute worst mental health issues to date. Usually my anxiety is all I have to deal with mental-health wise; I very rarely feel depressed at all, if ever. That being said, although I have more problems with anxiety in general, I am still susceptible to depression. In case you didn’t know (and you probably don’t because I’ve never mentioned it before) my official diagnosis is an adjustment disorder. Basically, this means my body reacts to periods of transition much more intensely than other people’s bodies do; both anxiety and depression can manifest themselves during these periods of transition. Of course, it is not surprising then that I’ve experienced both anxiety and depression in the last couple days as I have been transitioning from fall semester to winter break; it might not be a really huge transition, but it still does the trick.
Anyways, back from that digression. I’m going to get to these little victories soon, I promise!
Well, I woke up feeling a bit depressed, but I was not going to let depression ruin my day. I knew it would be hard work (and it was) but I was going to do everything in my power to feel my best today. I was on the verge of either diving in deeper or pulling myself out. So, I pulled myself out.
Today ended being a pretty good day, actually. I got a lot done and am feeling pretty satisfied. I had quite a few little victories today, which I’m pretty proud of.
Please join me as I lay them out for you:
I am super excited to announce that my first ever guest post was published today on Keep Your Feet! This is my addition to Keep Your Feet’s special Christmas series, “Tis the Season.” It was a super fun challenge for me to write a post for a blog that is not my own and I’m really satisfied with the results. I encourage you to check out my guest post as well as the rest of Keep Your Feet; it’s a beautiful blog! Thanks so much to Amelia for allowing me to guest post!
I got meself a hair cut today! It’s about time too, since my hair was losing it’s shape and had quite a lot of split ends by the time I walked into my hairdresser’s today. I’ve been known to go super short before, but my hair had gotten the longest it’s been in a while before I got it cut and I was kind of digging that. It’s not long enough to do anything substantial with at this point, but it will grow out a little bit eventually. Anyways, I love it now. I also think that mutli-colored totally 90’s headband that I haven’t worn since I was about 5 definitely adds a nice touch. I don’t know…I think I’m rocking it, but maybe that’s just me.
I got Christmas presents bought and wrapped for all three members of my immediate family (mom, dad, brother) today! I’m super happy about that, especially since I’m not the greatest at gift giving and am generally highly unoriginal when it comes to picking gifts out. My mom helped out a little bit with my dad and brother, though, and I know my mom’s tastes well enough (I think) that I was able to find something I think she’ll like just fine!
Okay, so I know this isn’t a picture…but it’s a video so close enough.
But really, oh my goddd, I just discovered this song yesterday and have been in love with it ever since. Everybody has problems and it has become so taboo to acknowledge that in today’s society…it drives me nuts and that’s why I love this song! So, my last little victory for this second edition of Life’s Little Victories as Told Through Pictures is the fact that I discovered this song because it makes me so happy! I’ve been listening to it pretty much non-stop the whole day, not gonna lie.
Damn, for waking up feeling a bit depressed, this day turned out pretty awesome after all.
Stay tuned for the next edition of Life’s Little Victories as Told Through Pictures!
I’m so glad your guest post made the list! It’s a wonderful post and I am so thankful for your contribution! I’m glad your day turned out better than expected!
